(REL)MGPGrass ~New D/L Revised set 3 heights.

Well ,to make a long story short , I got a PM about grass .
I said "Show me what you got and I will see what I can do."
James sent me a picture , which I quickly squared up , and transfered to an alpha channel.
Then Brought into sketch-up .

------------------------------------------------------------------------

I made an -off- pattern repeatable. And then doubled it and made an offset' scaled down pattern.

Then I tested it 'in-game'

Here is a link to a 'BETA' test if you want to play around with it.
Extract and place in your style theme folder.
Found in Walls Menu under MGPGrass
DO NOT rotate the grass while you are placeing them or the light will do funny stuff.
You can experiment with them.

It's excellent! I love it! ;D
Thank you so much, you're a legend!

But ......

If you get to a differant angle , you will see the pattern.

Hope you find it useful!

Sorry for hijacking but I must ask!

Is that a moonshine still I see inside the left building? If so what set is it from?

Thats the in-game 'rootbeer' stall.

Thanks for the comments , Hope to see it get used. Though it is not a perfect 'grass' I find that it does help to create an illusion in certain circumstances.
I am going to experiment with higher and lower scales , and different patterns to try to get a more even look from a distance.
But , man , when I look at those pics , I can't believe how real it looks now.
And it gets better.!!
I did a taller version tonite and I find it relly preforms well.

It is recolorable and the slightly taller version works very good with the first test.

I have no idea where this guy is getting his meat!

They look fantastic from street view shots, but on that one shot of the wild west town they look a bit Grid-y.

really ! I hadn't noticed .
Though it will show the 'grid' when you get to higher camera angles , I find this to be very good looking stuff and I will use it alot.

It makes for some interesting possibilities.

The colors blend very well with it , and the varied heights work good together.
I am going to repackage this to include some variations to better help 'you' .
FYI each square is 64 polys.(16 rectangles , double sided)

Thanks for the comments , I am off today so I was messing around this morning and have an Improved set.
http://www.mediafire.com/?mofimqzdymm

If you have the first set , delete it and place this in your style /themed folder.
MGPGrass in walls menu .
I suggest you DO NOT ROTATE.
This Updated set has 3 Heights .

The low set , high , tall
The higher grass hides the grid alot better.

The Dark back row is raised up 1 tick , so you should be able to use this on gentle slopes and still have it blend.

I just like the way it looks.

But the light does play funny tricks in the morning and late afternoon.

Still makes for cool shots.

Hope you can use them !

I like it alot, i'll be using it. Wish there was a way to hide the grid better on the lower grass, though.

WOW, this is really a great idea Terraform. Things that are coming out that either nobody has finished, or haven't thought about making, and this is one of those sets! Thank you for sharing with us!
