Vodhin's Flying Chitty Chitty Bang Bang [Released]

Download the Fantasmagorical Car Today

About this CTR (from the readme):

Vodhin's Flying Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Ride
A fully animated Custom Tracked Ride for RCT3
1/4/10

HIGH POLYGON WARNING: THIS RIDE IS NOT FOR LOW END COMPUTERS! This CTR does, however, include 3 automatic Level Of Detail versions that should help keep the load on your computer to a minimum. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.

This new CTR should work with All Versions of RCT3, though it has not been tested as such.
The track used is from the regular RCT3 game: Junior Coaster.

*****************************************************
Special Note:
Parks saved with this ride in place can only be opened by computers that have this ride installed. If you share a park with this ride in it, you should inform whomever will be downloading it that they too will need this CTR installed in order to open your park.

Please do not re-distribute this ride except as described below.

*****************************************************
To Install:
Locate your Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 program directory (typically Drive C > Program Files > Atari )

> Naviagte into Cars > TrackedRideCars
>> Copy the "CTR_VodhinCCBBFlyerCar" folder in the Game Ready folder in this ZIP into the TrackedRideCars folder

> Navigate into Tracks > TrackedRides
>> Copy the "CTR_VodhinCCBBFlyerTrack" folder in the Game Ready folder in this ZIP into your TrackedRides folder.

The Ride can then be found in the Coasters Menu as "Vodhins Flying Chitty"

*****************************************************
Alternate Install (Requires CTR Creator 0.85):
Included in this ZIP is a folder called "Not Game Ready." This folder contains my original text files that you may edit to put Chitty on a different track. Simply make your changes to the WagenDaten file and then run BOTH the "CTR_WagenDaten_VodhinCCBBFlyerCar.txt" and the "CTR_BahnDaten_VodhinCCBBFlyerTrack.txt" through the CTR Creator v0.85 (do NOT attempt to use previous versions as the ride will fail). Do NOT modify the "CTR_WagenDaten_VodhinCCBBFlyerCar.txt" file as doing so may cause the ride's animation to fail.

The Ride can then be found in the Coasters Menu as "Vodhins Flying Chitty"

*****************************************************
Placing this ride and designing a track in game:
Flying Chitty has delayed animation that opens the wings after about 24 seconds. The wings take about 11 seconds to fully open and the propellers to start turning. This allows you to let Chitty "cruise the countryside" for a littl bit before she takes flight.

The station sections have no platform and peeps will appear to be floating above the ground as they go too and from the ride's exits. This can only be fixed with as-yet-unavailable custom tracks. Perhaps in the furute.

Station sections must be a minimum of 2 units for Chitty to work, and multiple cars will wait on the regular track until the station is empty. I reccomend having 4 station sections, and try to time your ride so there is only one Chitty in the station at a time. If more than one Chitty arrives in the station, the trailing Chitties will "pop" to their ending animations (wings closing) even if they have already stopped and let the peeps off. This is the nature of RCT3 and cannot be fixed; adjust your track length, speed, and number of cars to pervent this from happening.

When building your track, you can put the ride into test mode to make Chitty travel the track. This will let you see at what point along your track that the wings will unfurl and where to place the elevated sections. If you are going to keep your track visible (not change the Track and Support Draw Distances in the Game's Graphics Options), then I recommend that you avoid using helixes as Chitty's Wings will appear to pass through them.

You can use my Generic Entrances to place a Ride Operator (position 2) at the front of the station and then choose 'no fence' from the Ride's fence menu. Chitty will stop at the station with her propellers just missing the operatior by a few inches. Other entrances do not intefere with the ride, but may look funny as Chitty's wings extend out almost a whole RCT3 gridsquare on either side of her.

Good luck and happy soaring!

*****************************************************
Distribution of this CTR:
You may host this ZIP file on your own website for others to download ONLY if:

> This README.txt is included
> You do NOT include this CTR as part of any other download- it must remain independent.
> The internal OVL files included have not been altered in any way
> You do NOT claim credit for creating any part of this CTR
> You do NOT require ANY registration to download or Access this CTR
> You do NOT require any fee or payment, or otherwise collect any kind of compensation in
order to download access this CTR
> You agree to remove this CTR from your website when and if I request you to do so.

*****************************************************

And... just for fun (It's a good way to feel the way I do about this work!):

One on water and another that flies. You should make one that's just on land now.lol just joking.(It would be cool though)

Anyways, this is an amazing CTR, Vodhin. Great job.

Edit: Oh wait, there's the great racers CTR, nevermind about what I said on the land thing.lol

Glad to hear it- I got a big smile, too, when I saw it finally working properly [humming Chitty Chitty Bang Bang song]

Iremember seeing it when I was a kid- though that was on TV; if I saw it when it was in the theatre, then I probably paid little attention to it; I was only 1 after all...

Actually, there is a work in progress thread, started almost exactly a year ago- it halted when the importing process led to an unwanted duplicate care showing up (the minimum number of cars said one, but two would link together as a train, spoiling the ride). That problem is now solved (any model with a skeleton/armature must have all joints/bones attached to the skeleton/armature).

I hope to see it get a lot of use, maybe we should have a photo set of Chitty "touring" RCT3 parks

Thanks! one on land, eh? well, there is one already; it was my first incarnation of Chitty and my first CTR. No down load for it at the moment, as this one does have 25 seconds before the wings open, so you have her puttering through town- or heading for a cliff!

Have fun

I just found the thread for the development of Chitty here. And on another note, I've managed to restore the downloads database at my website, expect it to return very soon

Vodhin, that CTR looks really awesome.

And BTW, it seems as if old links to your site work and point to the correct sets again.

WooHoo!

I'm very happily surprised to see Flying Chitty's release! It was saddening when the double car problem arose. Glad you were able to figure it out!

Thanks for sharing this, and all your other fine projects with us!

P.S. Congrats on the site! Looks great!

Still a bit of work to do- but I think I can get the users data back pretty easily now. In time we'll have the website running full steam

I have track pieces in the works- at least I'll have cobble stone and grassy pavings available. If Markus Lomberg can help out, I would like to make an actual track out of them. But, just like getting Chitty to work, you have to say "please!"

Thanks. I've got a few minor improvements to her animation already, but that won't be available for a while. The website resides in the same subfolder configuration, so all external links should be working- for a while... I plan on blocking direct downloads, though: if someone links to the file, they'll be directed to the main section; and if they link to the view page, then it will work fine.

I was happily surprised to see it working, too- I'm not sure exactly what was causing the mysterious extra car problem, but I think it might have to do with how the bones are created. Thanks for the compliments on the site, it's (as always) a work in progress. Now off to play
