I try the set the other night it nice site but need give wall smoother
texture your texture got now remind me of something see in rome.

like said in PM the other day try sand paint texture give look it need and also you need make archs with out any thing on top.

Awesome set those you can do alot with this thing once you find right texure it will feel little more like colonial Mexico .

K - well after making 3 textures and importing to test contrast and color 3 times in the last hour!!!
Is this what you are looking for???




So now ...what... Remake the entire set with the texture??
The definition of the texture gets lost as you back away.

^That is why you need to use referenced Textures: you would only need to re-build the texture OVL and not have to re-import every piece.

Based on your other posts and knowlege of CS and the game I would say you are well known .

ShyGuy started using referenced textures, so did Vodhin and a few others. I know that Vodhin released an alternate version of his OZ set where he simply replaced the textures in the Texture OVLs. I would seek one of them out, look for tutorials they might have made.

I have heard of this referancing textures but never looked into it. I do alot of hands on texture placement and mixing of textures , So I am not sure if this would transfer well in the way I do My CS . I size the same texture differant for differant items , a differant texture would not get the same effect.

Look a lot better much better texture really starting look like mexico is that a sand paint texture you used.

If you put all the texures that are in your set into a sing refrance file (texture OVL) then you can make updates on the textures, change them and such and all you need to do is remake the texture ovl and that will update all the pieces in the set and you dont have to reimport each piece with the texture.

Makes chaging textures more simple and easier.

Well, On this set , I was going to start over.... There are some things I dont have that are needed really.
And the sandy texture may be better suited. Not that the others are bad . But I want to do some pieces that make good fancy arch Borders for pavillions and stuff. Plus some other idea's. Then work on getting the City glass to where I want it With maybe some better Broken walls stuff.
I have plenty of Idea's.

Referenced Texture Setup

Factual has a point. If you are going to make the set over, you should try using Referenced textures, the big benefit is that pieces that use the same texture load the texture only once into the GPU, saving resources.

If you are going to use referenced textures, use importer v17 to create the texture OVL. There is a bug in v18 that might cause trouble.

V17 can be installed in it's own folder and run independently from v18 (just keep v17 and v18 in their own folders, create seperate desktop shortcuts and name them accordingly).

When making Referenced texture OVLs, v17 importer needs to have the Theme name (and any Prefix) in place in the main window. Use the exact same Theme and Prefix used in the v18 importer, but you can save the Main Theme File with a descriptive name.

Example: I make a Theme named Vodhin_NewSet (Prefix_Theme Name) and save that theme file in v18 as "NewSet" as normal. In v17 I make a Theme named "Vodhin_NewSet" (again Prefix_Theme Name) and save it as "NewSetTextures"

The Theme file saves are now independent, though each one is set up with identical defaults for the importer to use. This is important: the defaults need to be identical.


Now the easy part:

In v17, start by clicking "Create OVL" as you would any normal scenery and add every texture you will use in the set; do not add model files or try setting up LODs. Just add all your textures. I let the importer give each image file its default Name (the friendly name seen in the texture selection when making scenery).

When all your textures are added, the button to make the OVL should say "Create Texture OVL" Click that button. You should get a message asking if you want to make a Texture OVL. Click "Yes".

The Save OVL window opens up. VERY IMPORTANT STEP: Choose the same folder that your Main Set's Theme will be in! Referenced Texture OVLs MUST be in the same folder that contains the set's THM file or the importer (any version) will not find and install the Texture OVL. Keep the default OVL File name offered by the importer's save. It should be "Prefix_SetName-Texture.common.ovl" (I suggest that you write down the Texture OVL's Folder and Name)..

SAVE the SCN file for the texture OVL now. Click the Disk Icon in the menu bar at the top to save the setup of the textures so you can add new textures and edit others later. just load the SCN file and remaike the Texture OVL.

To replace a texture without rebuilding the Scenery OVL: just EDIT the texture in the Texture OVL - keeping the same "friendly" Texture Name but specifying a different iname file to use. It's that easy.



The HARD part- Create the Scenery OVL:

v18 Importer (or v17 if you wish): make your Scenery OVLs as normal, but DO NOT ADD TEXTURES. Instead, click the Green + button in the menu at the top of the window, then select the saved SCN file- this should load all the Texture Names in the Texture OVL's save. Textures from that texture OVL should be listed in greyed out lettering.

v18 Importer: Click the References TAB
v17 Importer: look at the boittom right part of the window

Look at the Path statement in the bottom: it should say "../shared/Prefix_SetName-texture" (Prefix is your default Prefix if you have one, SetName is for your set's name). [b]Check your Prefix and SetName- it must be the same as the OVL created for the textures (but without the common.ovl bit). The "../shared/" MUST be before the texture OVL name.

Click the + button in the Reference Section of the window to add that Path and file name. That should be all you need to do to encode the Scenery OVL to look for textures in the Texture OVL instead of the internal OVL.



The Easiest part:

Add your models and select the textures as you would normally, make the OVL. Do all the steps to set up the scenery and thenclick Install. If you have done it correctly, you will get a message saying "Theme Successfully Installed. Texture OVL Found & Installed" Chexk the install location (Style/Themed/SetName) for a folder named "shared"

If not, then the Texture OVL's (there should be two files, .common.ovl and .unique.ovl, just like any other OVL set) are not in the same folder as where your Theme's Save- look for them and copy them into the same folder where the theme (NewSet.thm) is and try again.

In game problems: Green Glob texture means one of two (or both) problems:

1. Texture Named in the Scenery OVL is not found in the Texture OVL
-- the Texture's name isn't identical to one in the texture OVL (other textures work), or
-- The Texture OVL is not in the shared folder, or the name of the texture OVL doesn't match the name of the OVL in the Reference line (no textures work).

Thanks for that Vodhin ...I have copied it and put it on my desktop . I will try to work through this , I have V18 so need to get the other version. But I will try this out.

Edit : This set had been ammended to include this ,
Walls with new texture , 1h2h3h+diags in stucko sand
Diag wall topper Arch doorway
Pillar Arch 'set'
and Diag Arch + Diag Pillar + Diag Filler


Makes it alot easier to build things like this \

EDIT#2 : Iwas just playing with this set , and there is an issue with the diag arch - doesn't line up very good with itself , the filler helps to fix this , but I made a mistake with the scaleing of it.
Anyway the set still is very nice and preforms very good .

Terraform like set coming together really good but my only dislike there no texture with sand texture that got design wall so match.

Can you make sand texture wall and stuff with design too like did with other ones.

one other suggest make wall angle that would support 1h roof , up to 4 h roof .

Ya ... this is what happens when you try to do something for somebody . Always with the ' a little more this and a little less that . That is why CS makers don't do requests , This seems like a little thing , but in reality
there are 4 heights --but you need a left and a right to line up with the walls ...
So , the 70 pieces is allready not enough , now at least 8 more walls on top of the 6 others already added and recolor arches and pillars and now 8 more slope fillers .
Finish your list Gamer B4 I make anything else!!

That it for now if need help with the set let me know if get too much for you I do know make cs so would be glade help you out. If don't mind making this set bigger it may push release date back.

I'm going make expansion for this set with all colonial mexico walls,decor and lighting could send me texture so can match it to this set please.

Well I got the models done, 12 slope fillers(including diags)...edited 4 new 'sand' fancy texture's , and 2 MGP specials (you gonna like these) But I am done for today , Gonna go watch the new "Survivor" , maybe import in the morning.

So here is an update on this expanding set.
These walls are very nice , This is the tile texture and sand texture wallls in white , very clean and bright colors.


These are some new MGP special walls.
Sand textured patterned wall is great for Racing ride's""
Inca God wall
Bird stamp


Lots and Lots of differant things.


Plenty of doo-dads to play with.


This set now has slope fillers in 4 heights left and right +diags , roof diags , and plenty of other stuff to keep you busy.
99 Pieces .


I have to fix a couple of things , and will have the updated set for download later today.

I run my own Lawn Care buisiness , I sleep and eat , take care of my 2 Weenie Dogs , Party on weekends , Poker on Sat. Night. Watch Futurama , And Survivor.
And in my other free time I am in front of this computer messing with other stuff.
I got Billboards down now , and got a new Lights tutorial to work through .
I Think of this as kind of a self education in Gaming techniques. I have always wanted to be a video game maker or tester or involved somehow. So this is kind of my passion.
