Summer Showdown - Challenge Two
![]() It's time for the second challenge to begin. ![]() You must choose one of the three marked areas in your park to work in. You've got until Monday 11th August to get this done, so that's about two weeks. Once again the bottom team/s will be eliminated atfer this challenge. _____________________________________________________________________________ Cali Stormers Supercoolsuper - Maylene The Banana Grabbers Cancerbat - n747 Salt & Pepper Shaun Allsop - MGP Badass Blondes p8ntball - LoveTulie Tea & Crumpets Towersdude - Vans_boy Invisible Hunters Maskedbandit101 - Plokoon111 _____________________________________________________________________________ ![]() Create either an Asian OR African themed area. That could be any theme from Japanese to Arabian to Indian, or from the African savannah to Egypt, or anything else that relates to those continents. You need to create three rides to go in this area (see restrictions below). Don't just have three rides on their own - use connecting paths, maybe some shops or buildings or seating areas or something to really make this feel like a themed area of a park. The area and the rides should also have some sort of name. Keep in mind you don't have to fill the whole area - a half-filled area with three rides close to each other is better than having them far apart with empty spaces inbetween. RESTRICTIONS So, for example, you could have an oriental themed area with a launched freefall (thrill ride), a carousel (junior ride?) and a go-karts track (othe ride). Or, you could have an African savnnah area with a top spin (thrill ride), lion show (gentle ride) and a twister (thrill ride). _____________________________________________________________________________ Submitting the park This will be similar to last time. Send me a PM on or before Monday 11th. There will not be any extensions this time, because the third challenge can't be held back (it's going to be a big one). If you're not quite finished, you'll have to make do with what you've done. You should submit: - A ZIP file with a folder called your team name. - An advert image, just like last time. This should be 640 x 480. - A maximum of 8 screenshots. I recommend at least one showing each ride, one showing an overview of the area and the others of whatever you want. - A txt. document with captions for each screenshot and/or a story or brief description of some sort. - All images should be 800 pixels wide maximum and 480 pixels high maximum. All images should be JPEGS. Nothing else needs to be submitted. |

Oh this sounds much more exciting! I would love to see how the competitors fit their new themes in with the rollercoaster area (I know its another area of the park, but there must still be some consistancy)
Great job Nuke! Only bad thing is that you aren't entering ![]()

Can we tear down The tempest and start over?
Actually this will be an easier challenge IMO , I stink at coasters. |

What you did for challenge 1 can be redone, as long as it still meets the original challenge requirements. But you can't changed what you've done too much either. So you couldn't tear the whole thing down, but you can change the layout slightly, improve all the theming.... but it still has to be recognisable as what you originally submitted.

Okey Dokey peeps.
So Ive been at the hospital under the care of the wonderful NHS (Pffffffft must be the morphine) Long story short is people don’t normally have this kind of op until their teeth have dropped out. Because of previous health issues yadda yadda yadda I’m still unable to do much other then sit on me ass in bed and quite frankly a full knee replacment with an operation still to go isnt fun. However I do have some things to say. I have been able to browse the forums and I’m disappointed. For the week I was able to work I worked as best I could. Granted from the outset being teamed with MGP was great but it was very hard. Not only having problems with communication via forum PM only. My ideas seemed to be somewhat disregarded. I did pre warn MGP about my operation before the challenges started and again a few days before I went in. I worked for 21 hours straight on a park and a coaster layout that was not used when MGP submitted the challenge. I gave both the park and coaster I worked on to MGP about a week before the deadline but none of it was used. Not one thing of that submitted park by MGP was my work and quite frankly I’d like to know why. MGP you had a coaster layout that you could have worked with and a detailed coastal area witch far surpassed the random placing of trees and you had a week to play around with it as I made sure you weren’t left stranded. I have my laptop with me but it cost money to use the internet and the laptop isn’t up to RCT performance. As far as I’m concerned the idea was to work as a team to a set challenge and this isn’t what happened. Granted I kind of up and left but it was unavoidable and I’m just curious to know why you didn’t use any of my work. I know the park worked as you sent my a PM with screen shots telling me how good some of it looked. I know where still in the competition but quite frankly I don’t want to work with someone that clearly is a one man band as it were. So for now I think I’ll continue to rest up, Eat yucky NHS Jelly, Laugh at the old man’s snoring routine next door to me and wish the team’s good luck. Invisible Hunters – Fantastic entry for the first challenge. |

So do we use the original park map? How is it separated into sites A B, and what ever like that?

Well that settles that. And frankly I think this is something to discuss in PM .
I either need a new teammate or we/I can just quit. Since Shaun already has. Oh and BTW http://www.ataricommunity.com/forums...d.php?t=650909 This is what I wanted to use and have the coaster fly along the Cliffs just like someone had said in the voting thread , but apparently it was no good . And I worked hard on this .I'm curious as to why this was no good? Quote:
EDIT; Since Shaun has quit , I asked TPM inc. If he would work with me on this , he has agreed so we need to clear it with all of you and the contest comittee. What are your thoughts on this? Last edited by MGP2300; 07-28-2008 at 10:27 PM. |

Depends on if he was a possible contestant when the draft was conducted I'd think. If not, they'd have to check his sources and make sure he was up to the task.
It's a shame your team has fractured though - the original idea seemed a heck of a lot stronger than the final product showed. But I guess we all can get a bit touchy if our ideas are thrown out. Best of luck to you moving on from this.

Well sorry shawn I thought you were out that is why I agreed. I want to have no say in this until I have a clean shot of playing, if I am replacing you then I would want to when you quit not when your still playing. Again I want to have no say until Shawn gives up (if he does) then I will play until then I will sit back, watch, and post.

Concidering im still in hospital awaiting another operation It's best that if TPM wants to replace me then go ahead and quite frankly good luck.
I should be out in a week so it would have ment I could have worked on what MGP produced in the last few days but it seems he would rather replace me then negotiate with me. It's all good as to be honest im too topped up on morphine to care LOL To the organisers, teams and others invovled: Sorry if ive let any of you down in all this but I felt as though I needed to get my feelings across and get my point seen. Good luck to those still in the comp and theres some lessons ive took from this. |

You both have great work, it's a shame that you couldn't work it out because of the problems you've both had, I think if you had you would be up in my top 3 and I really wanted to see the outcome of both of you working together it would have been a good combination.

To be honest Ive said what ive said and I belive your not happy with my feelings being made public. Guilt maybe?
As far as im concerned my feelings stand and I don't need to say anymore about it and as of yet you still seem to miss the whole point and fail to give me any kind of exsplination regarding what I stated. Calling me childish in pm for voicing my opinion doesnt help the situation either. A creative man is motivated by the desire to achieve, not by the desire to beat others. Move on........ |

I agree , I respected Shauns game skills and really wanted to see if we could combine to make something unique. I don't think he has been at his best frame of mind with all his surgery and knee stuff going on right now. (and Morphine)
Basically everything either of us did for this contest was put in the trash. I threw that poor coaster together in the last 2 days because we had nothing. We can now spruce it up and alter it a bit for the finish , but the new challenge is priority now . EDIT ; OK Shaun I will say it , Your park was a jumbled up mess with no rhyme or reason , you piled CS on top of CS on top of CS in an area 6 tiles by 50 tiles you used 1000 Shyguys rocks 1000 instant wood plants half of which were buried underground or each other , put a fence 3 high across the entire park in a way that the peeps would not interact with it . What were we going to do with the rest of the 10000 tiles in this park???/There was an entire beach with nothing on it a and coaster file. And yet it was 3485 kb and took forever to load . But we have 2 more sections and the main park to add still. It was poor resource managment . After I pointed this out you abandoned the team -the contest-and me . Now you come back crying that your stuff wasn't used. You no further wanted to negotiate what could be done what was going to be done and never even had the courtesy to tell me you were in the hospital and could not -would not be able to contribute anything further. Thanks alot. Is that what you needed to hear? I am moving on now . |

This is getting to confusing for me, MGP if Shaun gave you his effort couldn't you have spruced it up and fix it or was it that bad that you had to redo it into your own whle he was in the hospital. I really see no side to Shaun, and I'm not trying to me meam with any of this either but a 6x50 tile = 300 tiles in area filled with rocks and trees doesn't seem to work out that good (unless you wanted a rock cage), I would understand if you wanted MGP to but the building that he amde on top of the rocks but you could've told MGP to do this.

What is not being said is I did try to use this , However , All of the CS meant that I would have to individully pick out each piece of CS that was not Vital to the overall, Literally 1000s of pieces. And my point being that Though very attractive . It could have got the same effect with 1/3 of the CS. And the ground area of the park that this covered was not substantial enough IMO to warrant the use of this much resources.
TPM - you should probably stay out of it though. This is between me and Shaun and we are talking PM. Now. |
